26th African Cup of Nations, 2008
February 11, 2008
The last game of the African Cup of Nations was played yesterday in
Accra Ghana between Egypt's Pharaohs and Cameroon's Indomitable Lions. The
Pharaohs beat the Lions with one goal to nil.
The Cameroonians were simply outclassed by the Egyptians. The first
half of the game saw both the defense and forward for Cameroon unable to
find their stride. An uncoordinated Cameroonian side under constant
pressure by the well coordinated Pharaohs.
Samuel Eto'o appeared Cameroon's only hope going forward, but solid
marking by the Egyptians did not give him any room manouver.
The lone winning goal for Egypt came in the 77th minute of the game
through Mohammed Aboutriaka.
This win gives the Egyptians their sixth championship in the African Cup of Nations.
Cameroon has carried the cup four times.
Eto'o emerged the all time goal scorer with 5 goals scored in the
26th African Cup of Nations, 2008. Five members of the Egyptian squad
made the list of best 11 African players in 2008.
