Position Summary

The Coordinator of Fine Arts Admission and Promotion serves as the School's primary admissions officer and summer registration advisor. This person is responsible for all areas of activity relating to recruiting, portfolio review, and freshman student scholarships. The individual must maintain ongoing orientation for all freshmen and work closely with the Director and faculty in the School, the Office of Admissions, and the College of Arts & Sciences, arts and university marketing and communication teams, as well as area and selected statewide schools and community colleges.

Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Organizes On-Campus BFA Portfolio Reviews, Preview Days for School of Art.
  • Oversees all Mail-In BFA Portfolio Reviews.
  • Actively participates in New Student Orientation Presentation and Advising, and Mandatory Advising for BA and BFA Art Students.
  • Develops positive recruitment interface for the School, Recruits prospective high school and transfer students, National Portfolio Days, distributes all promotional materials as provided by Admissions and arts marketing team.
  • Gives tours and information about the School of Art facilities and degree programs.
  • Maintains the BFA Portfolio Review Database.
  • Answers correspondence from prospective students and parents; phone/emails.
  • Organizes the selection of Freshman Talent Award for the School of Art.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to serve as a positive spokesperson for the School of Art and its programs.
  • Multitasking skills
  • Proficient in use of software such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in art or related areas including arts administration, student personnel, marketing or communications required.

 

The following experience is required:

  • One year experience working in an art setting and/or 1-2 years’ work experience in arts administration, student personnel, marketing, or communications.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public relations experience
  • Admissions experience

 

 

Salary
Full-time, Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Level 353. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.
