University of North Florida

Welcome to the Graduate School at the University of North Florida!

Thank you for your interest in the University of North Florida. UNF is a comprehensive, urban university offering 27 master's programs and three doctoral programs through its five academic colleges; these programs include tracks in more than 64 specialization areas. The scope and the quality of these programs have made UNF the premier graduate school on Florida's First Coast.

UNF Graduate Programs

The University of North Florida brings together motivated students, an outstanding faculty, a cadre of programs addressing the needs of Northeast Florida and the interests of our students, and a stimulating atmosphere that combines the best of self-directed learning, research, and traditional classroom instruction. UNF bases its graduate and professional programs on its highly successful undergraduate model: small class sizes, significant resources, transformational learning opportunities beyond the classroom, and a faculty deeply committed to teaching and dedicated to educating students as individuals. With many programs having limited populations of students and small class sizes, we deliver the individualized attention that is at the heart of UNF's academic mission.

There are six degrees in the Brooks College of Health, including our newest Nurse Anesthetist program; two in the Coggin College of Business, including the extremely popular MBA; ten degree programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, spread across the sciences, social sciences, and the humanities; six in the College of Education and Human Services including the doctorate in Educational Leadership; and four in the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction, a master’s in computer and information science and three new graduate engineering programs. Several more programs are in the planning or proposal stages, and we expect our degree offerings will be expanding exponentially over the next few years.

Location and Features

The university is situated in southeastern suburban Jacksonville, Florida, and is only seven miles from the beach and just 12 miles from downtown. The campus is nestled among 1,300 scenic acres, the majority of which are designated nature and wildlife preservation areas. In 1972 when the university first opened, slightly more than 2,000 students were registered. Enrollment is now more than 16,000, 1800 of which are graduate students. While our university has grown we have retained our most distinctive feature—the individual attention each student receives.

Jacksonville is located in the northeast corner of Florida along the St. John’s River, earning it the nickname of the “River City.” It is home to more than 1 million people and is one of the youngest major cities in America. The city has professional sports teams, a wide-range of entertainment and outdoor activities available, year-round temperate weather, excellent restaurants and clubs, and great shopping. The St. John’s River, the Atlantic Ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway, and numerous lakes, parks, and golf courses make Jacksonville a great city for fun in the Florida sun. Many world-famous attractions are also nearby, including the Walt Disney World and Universal Theme Parks in Orlando, the Daytona speedway and beaches, as well as historic St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city.
