Personnel Analyst 1, (Human Resources, Employee Relations, Training) Job Description The division of Research & Innovation at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking applications for a Personnel Analyst 1. ***This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position reports to the Director, Operations & Projects in Research & Innovation. This position will be responsible for overseeing the recruitment processes and materials to ensure compliance; serving as back up search coordinator, drafting, reviewing, and editing job descriptions for classified and administrative faculty positions; managing personnel-related functions including interpreting and explaining rules, regulations, and procedures. This position serves as employee relations first line of support regarding performance, conduct, employee issues, facilitating resolution to employee conflicts and disciplinary matters; providing guidance to administrators in multiple departments for multiple employment categories; serving as subject matter expert on HR policies, procedures, and practices; problem solving and troubleshooting challenging HR or system issues, visa issues, Workday system issues, providing individual or group trainings for department support staff. The Personnel Analyst 1 will monitor and ensure budget lines, account dates and costing allocations are accurate on quarterly and fiscal basis, regularly review data integrity reports and facilitate corrections such as merit dates, evaluation dates, visa end dates, salaries posted to payroll clearing, student/temporary hourly employee hours etc., administer departmental visa or other citizenship sponsorships, serving as a liaison with central campus offices, and other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public administration or a related field, OR Three (3) years experience as a Personnel Technician III in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Qualifications Human resources experience which could include job analysis, evaluation of classification and compensation requests, conflict resolution, visa processing and sponsorship. Experience working with budget and cost allocation. Familiarity and general understanding of labor laws and policies, FMLA, ADA, and Title IX. Schedule The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs. Compensation Grade Grade 32 (Entry, Step 01 24.46/hr. – Step 03 $26.63/hr.) In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code. Exempt No 100.0% | |
