Job Description

The Department of Social Work at Tarleton State University invites applications for an Instructor or Professional Assistant Professor of Social Work position. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, 9-month position with primary teaching responsibility on the RELLIS campus. Teaching responsibilities will include a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Social Work and mentorship of students. Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in institutional service roles. Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate. Requires the ability to teach and/or work remotely at the University’s discretion. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities:

100% Teaching and Service: Develop, implement, and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology, and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning. May be required to teach at other campuses or online. Maintain appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry; Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.

Minimum Requirements:

Must also have an MSW from a CSWE-accredited university
Minimum of two years of social work practice experience post-MSW
Preferred Requirements:

Prior experience with College or University teaching
Classroom experience in an accredited social work program, teaching at the master's level
Experience in online course development and online teaching experience
Possess the desire and flexibility to teach across the social work curriculum at both levels (BSW and MSW).
Willingness to engage in community partnerships and program development.
Licensed or license eligible.
Instructor:

Required Education:

Earned master’s degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university.
Professional Assistant Professor:

Required Education:

Earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability in the discipline and show clear promise of teaching excellence as evidenced in evaluation by peers, department head, and college dean
