Job Summary
The University of Kentucky is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Percussion to join our outstanding faculty in the School of Music for Fall 2024. Our new colleague will lead an internationally recognized and thriving percussion studio comprised of undergraduate and graduate students. Teaching duties will include individual studio instruction at all levels, percussion methods, percussion ensemble, and percussion studio class. The successful candidate will be expected to build a creative and research profile consistent with School of Music standards in performance areas; participate in shared governance within the School of Music, the College of Fine Arts, and the University, as well as one’s profession; and establish and maintain positive relationships with secondary school band directors and private percussion instructors throughout the region, resulting in excellent recruitment and retention of students within the UK School of Music. The successful candidate will also be responsible for graduate advising and thesis committee work, primarily in percussion-related performance areas. Funding to support percussion students includes undergraduate and graduate scholarships, as well as a full graduate teaching assistantship.

The School of Music has over 50 full-time faculty, with an enrollment of over 400 students. The School of Music offers baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in music performance, music education, musicology/ethnomusicology, and theory/composition, as well as a master’s degree in music therapy. • Demonstrate a successful record of recruitment, teaching (studio and classroom), performance,
and professional integrity at the collegiate level
• Exhibit potential for creative and scholarly accomplishments at the regional, national, and
international levels and experience working with composers and commissioning new works.
