Position Description Summary:
The George Washington University, Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Forensic Science invites applications for a Visiting Professor position in forensic science beginning in Fall 2024. We seek a broadly trained forensic chemist, with at least two years of experience in a forensic science laboratory, who is prepared to teach graduate classes in the field of forensic science and forensic chemistry. This is a one academic year appointment, with the possibility of reappointment for no more than one additional academic year.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be required to teach three graduate courses per semester in the field of forensic science based on their experience. Examples of courses include but are not limited to, forensic chemistry, trace evidence, forensic drug analysis, and introductory courses to the forensic sciences. The Visiting Professor will also serve as Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) for the forensic chemistry field of study in the Master of Forensic Science (MFS) degree program. The DGS reviews applications for the MFS degree in the field of forensic chemistry and acts as the academic adviser for students in that field of study. The Visiting Professor will also be expected to mentor students in their independent research projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree, or its equivalent, in chemistry, forensic chemistry, or forensic science. Applicants must have at least two years of casework experience in a forensic science laboratory.
