Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology (2 positions available)

The Psychology Program at the University of Charleston invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to start August 2024.

The Psychology Program, part of the Department of Social Sciences, serves approximately 60 students with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree programs. The program also provides courses for a number of other majors including exercise science, occupational therapy, nursing, and other health sciences.

Position Summary:

We seek highly creative and interactive scholars whose teaching and research interests are in the areas of clinical/counseling psychology and general psychology. The successful candidate should be able to teach introduction to psychology, developmental psychology courses, clinically focused courses, research methods, and statistics. They will be expected to work with the Program Director to grow the psychology program. This nine-month position is scheduled to begin on August 15, 2024.

Essential Responsibilities:

Develop and teach courses at the undergraduate level in the areas listed above.
Teach courses in face-to face and online formats.
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with colleagues.
Advise students in-seat and online.
Serve on university committees, maintain currency in the field and duties as prescribed in the UC Faculty Manual.
Conducting psychological research with undergraduates will be encouraged.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a PhD in Psychology or a closely related area.
Candidates with a master’s degree in psychology and a EdD with prior teaching experience may be considered.
Candidates must be able to teach online courses as well as in-seat courses at the Charleston, WV, campus.
