Position: Director of University Assessment

Department: Institutional Effectiveness

Status: Full Time

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness, the Director of University Assessment will be responsible for coordinating and managing all university assessment processes to comply with internal policy, institutional and specialized accreditation requirements, and nationally accepted best practices for assessment of educational programs, academic and student services, and administrative units.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate, manage, and improve assessment practices for all university units according to processes outlined in the Campbell University Planning & Assessment Manual.
Collaborate with the University Effectiveness Council to evaluate and improve assessment-related policies and practices. With the Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness, update and maintain the Campbell University Planning & Assessment Manual.
Serve as a consultant, resource, and facilitator to faculty, unit directors, and university administrators; provide oversight in the planning and implementation of assessment and evaluation efforts as well as meaningful feedback on assessment plans and use of results for quality and effectiveness.
Chair the Academic Assessment Committee and serve on the General College Curriculum Committee.
Facilitate transition of assessment results and evidence of seeking improvement from current repositories into new system. Assist in selecting, implementing, and acting as key administrator of assessment and documentation tool(s) for evolving processes.
Coordinate and administer students' end-of-course evaluations of faculty and curriculum.
Administer nationally-normed and internal assessment instruments; analyze and communicate results to the university community and appropriate constituencies.
Provide guidance and expertise to faculty, unit directors, and university administrators in the use of assessment data to improve curriculum, instruction, and services, and to fulfill compliance expectations of external accrediting and governing bodies.
Coordinate efforts with faculty, unit directors, university administrators, and other stakeholders to develop, implement, monitor, and report on action plans and timelines to address potential issues of non-compliance or related concerns.
Work collaboratively with faculty, unit directors, and university administrators to facilitate the assessment of program-level and/or course-level student learning outcomes or program outcomes and curriculum maps.
Research current trends, methodologies, instruments, and developments within the field and introduce new ideas to current practices as appropriate for student learning assessment models, processes, and activities.
Serve as a resource on best practices and research findings in the areas of student learning assessment and evaluation.
Prepare and present oral presentations of research findings to various constituencies both within and external to the university.
Lead university-wide assessment documentation and publication, inclusive of national, regional, and local consumer disclosures.
Assist with the development, proofing, and preparation of accreditation self-studies. Lead the assessment initiatives of the University’s current SACSCOC QEP, WE Write!
Oversee the process by which faculty rosters are compiled and housed.
Attend and/or present occasionally to local, regional, or national assessment conferences.
Complete work characterized by accuracy, honesty, and integrity, in keeping with the Christian mission of Campbell University.
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
Complete other duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned.
This position is eligible for remote work. Incumbent will be provided a Remote Work Addendum that details the specifics of the remote work arrangement if position will be remote.
Education/Experience:

A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Education, the Social Sciences, or in a research-oriented discipline related to assessment, evaluation, education research, or statistics.
Three or more years of work experience in academic assessment, teaching in an academic discipline, professional practice in student affairs, or curriculum development. Demonstrated experience focusing on assessing student learning.
A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials. Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector is also desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with student information systems, assessment databases, and statistical software.
Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Work independently and function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.
Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.
Learn Campbell University policies and procedures and FERPA guidelines in a short period of time.
