Description
The Clemson University School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (SCEEES) invites applications to fill a tenured/tenure-track position with a focus on Geo-Environmental Engineering. Candidates are desired with expertise in one or more of the following areas: subsurface transport and remediation of organic, inorganic, metals, and radioactive contaminants, radioactive waste isolation, geologic storage and production of hydrogen, geological carbon sequestration, subsurface energy storage, brownfield development, municipal, industrial, and mining waste containment systems, re-use of waste materials, and reduction of climate change and sea level rise impacts. A Fall 2024 appointment is anticipated with the position at the assistant or associate professor level. The successful candidates will have an earned PhD in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or in a closely related discipline.

The successful candidates are expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Development of new courses in the candidate’s specialty area will be encouraged. The candidate will advise MS and PhD students and develop a high-quality, sponsored research program. Opportunities exist for collaboration within SCEEES, the Savannah River National Laboratory, as well as with other colleagues in the College of Engineering, Computing, and Applied Sciences, and with other Colleges and Centers at Clemson.

Clemson University recently created the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences that houses the Glenn Department of Civil Engineering and the Department of Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences (EEES). SCEEES is home to 43 tenure/tenure track faculty, more than 220 graduate students and 550 undergraduates. As part of a University initiative in cluster hires, SCEEES will be adding as many as 12 positions over the next several years. The School has established or is growing expertise in the following areas: Engineering the Surface and Subsurface (dry land, clean water, and water security); Engineering the Earth’s Ecosphere (air quality, greenhouse gas removal, managing solid and nuclear wastes); Smart City Service (managing risk and security); and Resilient Communities (natural disaster mitigation). Qualifications
