The Department of Technology, Design, and Technical Education (TDTE) at Utah State University is searching for a candidate to fill a faculty position as a Professional Practice Assistant Professor in the Engineering Technology (ETEC) degree program. This unique and new program offers academic, field, and industry-based experiences that bring together advanced manufacturing, design, engineering principles, electronics, automation, business, and many other concepts important to companies in the manufacturing and design industry. The ETEC program is a Bachelor of Applied Science degree that prepares students for various positions in companies that manufacture and design commercial and consumer products.

The individual selected for this position will start in August of 2024. This is a full-time, non-tenure track academic year appointment (nine months), on the Utah State University campus with opportunities for summer employment depending upon available funding and enrollment. This position’s primary role assignment will be teaching in the ETEC program. Review of applications will  continue until the position is filled.

Responsibilities
With a primary role assignment of teaching (95%), the successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate courses for the Engineering Technology degree program. Instructional emphasis will be placed on engineering technology, manufacturing, and design-oriented courses for Engineering Technology students. Specific courses within the work assignment may include CAD (Solidworks), manufacturing processes, material science, electronics, automation, engineering technology principles, prototyping, design, and project management. Labs are a strong component of the Engineering Technology program, and the successful candidate will help maintain and demonstrate proper lab management. This individual will also assist other Engineering Technology and TDTE faculty in the preparation and delivery of course materials and in support of extracurricular activities. In addition, the effective use of USU’s learning management system (i.e., Canvas) is required to deliver course materials.
