General Summary
The College of Education and Human Development at Western Michigan University (WMU) invites applications for a one-year terminal assistant professor position focusing on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) beginning in August 2024.

The candidate will hold a one-year terminal appointment in the Department of Special Education and Literacy Studies. We seek to hire someone who can fill needed content expertise and provide new energy and perspectives related to graduate curriculum development, teaching, recruiting, retaining and advising students.
Major Duties
Teach undergraduate and graduate level classes for WMU’s TESOL programs.
Assist with program improvement and curriculum development.
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success.
Participate in service opportunities to the department, university, community, and profession.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD (ABD considered) in TESOL, Second Language Acquisition, Curriculum and Instruction with a bilingual or language specialization from an accredited institution.
Experience teaching in a K-12 culturally and linguistically diverse setting.
Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate TESOL classes.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with online and hybrid instruction.
Experience with curriculum development.
Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate classes on ESL teaching methods, grammar for ESL teachers, and educational linguistics.
