Job Description Summary
The search will remain open until the position has been filled.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Support the creation of culturally relevant student-focused programming to ensure that students feel welcomed, safe, supported, and valued. Aid students in connecting with appropriate University resources. Handle logistical details involved with the Multicultural Student Services Center (MSSC) events: financial transactions, booking rooms on campus, ordering food/supplies, support with AV, etc. Manage the MSSC website and help to generate promotion materials. Attend MSSC events and participate in programming. Encourage students to participate in life on campus and to take advantage of University opportunities. Promote the involvement of diverse students in the utilization of the MSSC.

Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

In collaboration with the Assistant Director and Director, coordinate cultural programs, events, workshops, and educational initiatives that promote diversity, inclusion, and multicultural understanding.

Oversee the Center’s calendar of activities and manage logistics related to the organization and execution of events.

In collaboration with the direct supervisor, develop relationships with various constituencies on campus.

Coordinate with custodial and facility departments to address building related concerns promptly.

Manage facility reservation requests for events and meetings within the Center.

Prepare and process financial transactions, invoices, purchase orders, honorarium, and reimbursements in accordance with University policies.

Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate undergraduate student employees.

Be responsible for the operational aspects of the MSSC, including scheduling of the facility, student staff work schedules, and facility maintenance (by communicating with University Facilities staff).

Develop job descriptions, work schedules, and task assignments for student employees.

Foster a learning environment for student employees, providing guidance and mentoring.

Collaborate with various campus departments, student organizations, and community partners to promote and integrate multicultural understanding and inclusivity.

Advocate for the needs and concerns of students from diverse backgrounds.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports on Center building reservations.

Generate branding and marketing digital/print material for Center events for communication through the Center’s website, social media accounts, and print publication.

Work with the University printing office and outside vendors to order promotional materials for the Center.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform additional duties as required.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers, printers; spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software; Social media.

Required Qualifications
REQUIRED:

1. Bachelor’s degree.

2. Minimum one year of experience with diversity and/or multicultural issues.

3. Demonstrated experience working with historically underrepresented students.

4. Demonstrated experience in program development that enhances the student experience for students of color and other historically underserved and underrepresented populations.

5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

6. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

7. Demonstrated experience in professional relationship building and partnership development.

8. Demonstrated experience in computer and social media skills.

9. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED:

1. Master’s degree in student development, student personnel, higher education administration, gender and sexuality studies, ethnic studies, or a related field.

2. Demonstrated experience advising diverse student organizations.

3. Demonstrated website and listserv management skills.
