Job Summary: The Assistant Director plans, organizes, develops, implements, and evaluates programs and services. Manages daily operations of the Office of Workforce Development (OWD), including project management, employer and student engagement, event management, communications, and budgets. Provides professional development instruction. Recommends employment and termination decisions in OWD. Oversees OWD professional and student staff members. Assists with the vision of the OWD and strategic planning.

In accordance with UWF Human Resources Policy HR-20.02-09/15, Recruitment, Selection, and Appointment, a time-limited appointment is a position funded by contract and grant, auxiliary, or local fund, for a project for a specific period. A time-limited position shall have the same rights as a regular position except that the position is not entitled to notice of separation at the expiration of the appointment and shall not have layoff and recall rights.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience: or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.
Position Qualifications: Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree and four years of appropriate experience. Must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with employers, students, faculty, staff, and administration on campus. Must be very organized. Must be able to understand, interpret, analyze, and process various forms of data.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in Higher Education. Three or more years of experience in customer relationship management, professional development, marketing, and project management.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
20% - Manage the day-to-day operations of the OWD. Oversees spending allocations and contributes to the budget planning process. Assists the Director with daily decisions regarding policies and procedures; develops procedures pertinent to students, alumni, faculty, staff, and employers, specifically in the area of workforce development programs. Researches and stays abreast of trends and resources relating to workforce development. Responsible for the OWD assessment efforts. Recommends employment and termination decisions in OWD. Organizes daily activities based on the goals of the OWD and manages the student GA. Serves as a point of contact for departments within the University. Performs other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
60% - Program Management: Plans, organizes, develops, implements, and evaluates programming, utilizing data-driven decision-making. Investigates methods for receiving alternative funding through grants, donations, etc. Communicates with employers, students, faculty, staff, and administration on campus to make decisions and monitor the program's progress to keep it on schedule and to have an impact. Communicates with the Director to keep the program aligned with strategic goals. Creates action plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines. Makes effective decisions when presented with multiple options for progressing with the program. Plans, organizes, and coordinates OWD events and meetings' logistical, administrative, and operational details. Facilitates on-campus student recruiting for the program. Performs quality control on the program to maintain the standards expected. Provides support to the Director for recruitment/retention of employers and mentors. Recruits UWF students as participants. Maintains up-to-date, error-free program database (employers, mentors, students/mentees). - (Essential)
10% - Teaching Assistant: Provides professional-level instruction to students participating in the OWD program under the direct supervision of a faculty supervisor (the Director) on professional development/soft-skills topics. Leverages available technology (including Canvas) and resources to develop and implement strategies, programs, and other materials that support individual students' specific career development needs. Meets participating students where they are through "On-the-Go" remote Coaching sessions. Provides general assistance to faculty (the Director) in instructional activities related to workforce development to students in the OWD program: lectures and leads discussion groups, serves as an assistant in classes, proctors examinations, develops work plans in accordance with program/organizational objectives. - (Essential)
10% - Marketing & Outreach: Communicates effectively with program participants (students, employers, mentors), including emails, a monthly e-newsletter, invitations, flyers, and the Office of Workforce Development website. Coordinates with the UWF Internal Communications team for branded materials, social media, press releases, etc. Attends meetings and events on campus and in the community that are workforce development related. - (Essential)
