Position Title Special Assistant Professor of Sociology Position Number 896472 School/Division Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences-Social Science Department Full-Time or Part-Time Full-Time Description The Department of Sociology at Hofstra University seeks a temporary one-year Instructor or Assistant Professor to staff core courses and advise students in our criminology program. A PhD in sociology, criminology or criminal justice is preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester, including Introduction to Criminology and Theoretical Perspectives on Crime and Justice. Our curriculum focuses on critical criminology, restorative and transformative justice, and economic and racial equity in the criminal legal system. The candidate's application must demonstrate commitment to these perspectives and show how their teaching, research, or service would help further Hofstra's mission of building a culturally diverse and inclusionary environment.
