Job Information Florida International University is looking for highly motivated and self-driven candidates with strong background in Power Electronics, Renewable Energy System, Smart Grid and/or Electric Vehicle Charging System are asked to apply for the position Research Assistant Professor with Energy Power Sustainability and Intelligence (EPSi) Group, Electrical and Computer Engineering department. EPSi is the home of Artificial Intelligence Based Renewable (AIR) Microgrid and Hybrid Power Plant Research Facility and Hybrid Photovoltaic Power Plant. The selected candidate will be working in areas related to Power Electronics, Renewable Energy System, Smart Grid and/or Electric Vehicle Charging System. Required Qualifications: 1. Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Power Electronics, Control, and/or Renewable Energy System. 2. Expertise of power system simulation software, such as, MATLAB, PSIM, PLECS. 3. Strong record in journal and conference publications with evidence of paper published in IEEE Transactions, and granted patent in the areas of Power Electronics, Control, and/or Renewable Energy System. 4. Strong academic record on courses related to Power Electronics, Control, and/or Renewable Energy System. 5. Prior experience in writing grants and proposals. 6. Prior experience in supervising PhD students. 7. International Experience is highly sought. 3 of 3 This position will involve research and service. Primary research activities will be related to smart grids, electric vehicles, high penetration renewable systems, storage, and battery management systems, grid resiliency, large-scale data analysis, artificial intelligence, advanced metering infrastructure, and smart city infrastructure, and cybersecurity. In addition, you will be required to prepare technical reports, organize and participate in conferences, publish research articles and write and submit grants/proposals. The Engineering Center will be your principal place of employment, although it is possible that you will have assignments at other locations.
