Position: Visiting Assistant Professor

Department/School: Chemistry, College of Arts and Sciences

Months: 9 months

Salary: $48,360

Definition of Classification:

The Chemistry Department at University of Redlands is seeking to hire a full-time visiting assistant professor to join the department for academic year 2024-2025, with the possibility of renewal for academic year 2025-2026 available based on satisfactory performance.

Primary teaching responsibilities will include instruction in Inorganic Chemistry lecture as well as first and second semester General Chemistry lecture & labs for a total of eight course equivalents a year. A PhD (or near completion of degree) in chemistry is required at time of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate a strong dedication to teaching and mentoring students with diverse educational backgrounds, including students with little to no background in chemistry as well as those who have had numerous high school and college chemistry courses. Experience/Training/Education:

Required

Doctorate degree or near completion of degree.
Experience teaching and mentoring a diverse group of students.

Working Conditions:

Standard classroom/office setting. Duties performed are primarily in a classroom/office environment while sitting at a desk or computer workstation or in meetings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

Physical Demands:

Incumbents regularly sit for long periods; walk short distances on a regular basis; may travel to various locations to attend meetings and conduct work; use hands and fingers to operate an electronic keyboard or other office machines; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; stoop or kneel or crouch to file; speak clearly and distinctly to answer telephones and to provide information; see to read fine print and operate computer; hear and understand voices over telephone and in person; and lift, carry and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
