Payroll & Benefits Coordinator The Payroll and Benefit Coordinator reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the HR Manager, Compensation and Benefit. The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the leaders. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position description plus employee attitude and general working behavior. Job Type: FT (Benefits Eligible) Job Purpose: As a Payroll and Benefit Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of employee benefits administration and payroll processing. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely delivery of benefits and compensation to employees while adhering to relevant regulations and company policies. Your attention to detail and knowledge of payroll and benefits processes will contribute to the overall satisfaction and well-being of employees. Essential Duties 1. Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits. 2. Payroll Processing: Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner using payroll software. 3. Data Management: Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity in payroll and HRIS systems. Stay informed about federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to payroll and benefits. Communicate payroll and benefits information to employees effectively. 6. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions, benefits enrollment, and employee communications. Learn more about employment benefits at the University of Lynchburg. 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (7.5 hours/day with some evening and weekends to meet needs of department may be required The functions of this position are usually performed sitting, but may involve some amount of time walking. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, or carrying may be required. Tasks such as working at a computer keyboard involve extensive wrist and hand movements. Much contact with employees and the general public. The normal work schedule is 37.5 hours per week. Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively and have the ability to understand, comprehend and follow directions. Must have good teamwork skills. Excellent English-language oral skills for effective communication in telephone and interoffice contacts. Excellent English-language reading and writing skills for responding accurately to inquiries and drafting correspondence. Good mathematical skills necessary Required Qualifications: Previous experience in payroll processing and benefits administration. Minimum Education: An Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business or high school diploma plus coursework in accounting and computer skills training. Candidates must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
