ROLE of the POSITION

Reporting to the Director of Career and Life Design under the Office of Academic Affairs, the Assistant Director of Employer Engagement strategically and effectively develops, engages and advances relationships with external employers to enhance career readiness, internship opportunities and career employment outcomes of diverse and dynamic UNLV students and Alumni. This position supports the Director of Career and Life Design and the Executive Director of Workforce Development who outreaches and cultivates employing organizations seeking partnership with UNLV for talent acquisition and development campus wide. This position plays a key leadership role for a central career services and workforce development hub for the campus to implement a University-wide employer engagement strategy as part of a Top Tier 2.0 Workforce Development and “Career Everywhere” initiative.

The Assistant Director of Employer Engagement will develop strategic engagement strategies and ongoing relationship management to engage employers in a variety of recruiting and early talent development activities, events, and services that enhance the career trajectories of UNLV students and Alumni. This includes strategies to reach students across campus as well as identify and reach segmented target audiences (students and Alumni) that best match talent acquisition needs. The Assistant Director will elevate the usage of internship and job posting systems, and on campus marketing, networking and recruiting services. The Assistant Director will lead the design and implementation of modernized and engaging campus wide career fairs and employer networking events as well as engage employers in relevant platforms and professional development programs. This leader will support the Executive Director of Workforce Education to conceptualize, promote, and develop employer partnerships and sponsorships to elevate the resources of UNLV Career Services and Workforce Development. The Assistant Director will communicate with existing and prospective employers to promote and support meaningful internship experiences, recruit and champion diverse and inclusive workplaces and strengthen campus partnerships and employer engagement across campus.

The Assistant Director of Employer Engagement works alongside the Career Events and Marketing Specialist to manage signature campus-wide career fair and networking events, a central job posting and career management platform, on campus recruiting activity and central career services communication, marketing, and social media outlets to promote career readiness, career employment and internship opportunities.

The successful candidate will have capacity and skills for engaging external employing organizations and facilitating talent connections to diverse students and alumni through engaging events, programs, digital platforms and services. This individual will be knowledgeable about internship and experiential learning as well as understand how to implement best practices and innovative programs. The successful candidate will be well versed in promotion, marketing and communication as well as work as a cohesive part of a team that includes constant collaboration across campus. The successful candidate will facilitate events, programs and services that are inclusive and responsive to student needs at a Minority Servicing institution (MSI)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university and 3-5 years’ experience with one or more of the following areas– employer relations, college relations or talent acquisition, business development, employment services, internship development, recruiting events management & promotion, recruitment systems management, customer service/relationship management and program coordination. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS-

Master’s degree preferred with 5-7 years’ experience connecting and accommodating employers engaged in college recruiting or related activities including internships, employer networking/ career fair events to job posting systems and marketing/social media platforms. Demonstrated success in engaging external stakeholders in campus programs and services that produce positive career outcomes.
