Position Summary:

The Director of Alumni Engagement is responsible for leading the university’s comprehensive alumni engagement program. The Director contributes to the planning and implementation of strategic alumni engagement initiatives designed to enhance and strengthen connections between alumni, friends, and the university.

The Director reports to the Vice President of Advancement and supervises the Coordinator for Alumni Engagement. The Director is a key member of the University Advancement team.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of five years of experience working within a university alumni relations or alumni association program or comparable experience in a similar organization is required.
A suitable combination of education and experience may be substituted to meet minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:

Related experience in university or non-profit development, special events, student affairs, student recruitment and admissions may be applicable.
Previous supervisory experience preffred.
Job Duties:

Demonstrate an attitude and behavior that reflects the mission and values of the university and the department
Provide leadership responsibility for a comprehensive alumni engagement program at OCU
In consultation with the Vice President for Advancement, set goals, strategies and priorities for alumni engagement and ensure that engagement activities support and enhance fundraising efforts
In consultation with the Vice President, establish key engagement metrics to assess the impact of engagement programming
Serve as the primary touchstone for the alumni engagement program representing a positive image of the university to a diverse group of constituents in a variety of settings
Collaborate with the School of Law on: the integration and implementation of strategy for alumni programming as it intersects with existing programs; develop co-branded events; and other general law alumni support
Establish and support a diversified alumni board designed to reflect the richness of the university community; engage the alumni board in work that identifies and maximizes opportunities to foster long-lasting and productive relationships between the university, alumni, students, and the community
Serve as the primary institutional liaison to the OCU Alumni Association Board of Directors. Work closely with the board in arranging meetings, staffing its committees and ensuring strong and productive relationships between the board and the academic and administrative leadership of the university.
Develop and implement local, regional, and national alumni events and programs which increase alumni engagement and participation while supporting the fundraising goals of the Office of Advancement through increased cultivation and stewardship of alumni relationships
Collaborate with the OCU schools and colleges including the OCU School of Law on the integration and implementation of strategy for alumni programming as it intersects with existing programs; develop co-branded events; and other general alumni engagement.
Work with academic units in supporting alumni relations efforts with constituent areas
Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; facilitate ways to secure contact, biographical and professional information of alumni
Implement ongoing alumni communications utilizing an array of platforms including email, social media, web presence and other outlets; remain up to date on current methods and innovations to effectively communicate with alumni groups
Identify alumni with notable stories and achievements to develop success narratives and connection opportunities in collaboration with appropriate campus colleagues (Communications and Marketing, academic units, etc)
Collaborate closely with advancement colleagues on various projects as well as other departments across campus to achieve collective goals including alumni engagement resulting in increased yield in student applications and enrollment
Raise funds for special projects and leadership annual giving programs of the university and assist in the identification and qualification of donor prospects
Provide supervision for direct reports including hiring, training, and performance management activities
Other duties as assigned by the Vice President

The ability to take initiative, inspire and motivate others, and work collaboratively and collegially
Ability to be flexible, attentive to detail to complete various projects and relate well with people
Research, organizational, business procedural and supervisory skills including familiarity with relational databases and common technology including various software and platforms
Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal communication and writing skills
OCU background is preferred
Ability to embrace key values of the university's development program; passion for OCU, partnership with alumni and donors, perpetual support for OCU, and a people-centered approach, as well as demonstrate support for them through professional interactions and activities
Knowledge of the role of engagement and fund raising in higher education institutions
Ability to attend events during evenings and weekends
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Work is primarily indoors, but at times may be required to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus.
Will be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones and office machines.
Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Event support required on weekends and evenings as scheduled.
Off-campus, state and regional travel may be required.
