The Department of Marine Biology and Ecology at the University of Miami (UM), Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science is seeking candidates for Assistant, Associate or Full Professor (tenure-track/tenure eligible) in Marine Biomedical Science. Candidates should have research experience in the use of marine organisms as models for the study of human health and disease. In addition to collaborations with MBE and Rosenstiel faculty, candidates are encouraged to consider potential collaborations with faculty at UM’s Miller School of Medicine (https://med.miami.edu/) and Institute for Data Science and Computing (https://idsc.miami.edu/members/), which maintains one of the top academic supercomputing facilities in the US.

The Department of Marine Biology and Ecology consists of 25 faculty working in ecology, genomics, toxicology, physiology, immunology, and diseases of marine organisms (https://marine-biology-ecology.rsmas.miami.edu/index.html). The Department has active doctorate, master, and professional master graduate programs and a large undergraduate program. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field, appropriate postdoctoral training, and a strong publication record and be able to demonstrate ongoing extramural support for their research programs (Associate or Full Professor) or a strong funding potential (Assistant Professor). Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the graduate and undergraduate academic programs through teaching, mentorship, and advising of both graduate and undergraduate students.

The Department of Marine Biology and Ecology recognizes that good science and innovation need different approaches and points of view that can only be achieved through diversity. We encourage diverse applicants to apply, and we are continuously striving to create an environment where everyone feels empowered to be their full, authentic selves. The successful candidate must have a clearly articulated vision of how their work at Rosenstiel will contribute to the University’s continuing mission of serving the needs of historically underrepresented and marginalized student communities in higher education.
