Job Summary:
Assistant Teaching Professor in the field of teacher education, specifically in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). Successful applicants will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses (4/4 load), supervise clinically-based program experiences, supervise graduate projects, assist with student advising, and provide service to the department and institution. This position is eligible for promotion, but not tenure, and begins in August of 2024.

College of Education, Health and Society (EHS): Founded in 1902, the College of Education, Health, and Society was Miami University’s first professional school and home to Miami’s first graduate of color. CEHS continues to lead the way with the highest percentage of diverse students and faculty across the university. The College embraces the rich opportunities available for cross-disciplinary collaboration across its six departments Educational Leadership; Educational Psychology; Family Science and Social Work; Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Health; Sport Leadership and Management; and Teacher Education).

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate in TESOL, ESL/ESOL (English as a Second Language) Multilingual Learner (MLL) Education, Second Language Acquisition, or closely related field, by date of appointment, and a minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in PK-12 schools.

Desired Qualifications:
Consideration may be given to candidates with: (a) knowledge of and experience with multicultural and multilingual populations; (b) engagement with anti-racist, anti-oppressive, culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogies; (c) university teaching experience in a TESOL-related field; (d) evidence of high quality teaching; (e) experience teaching hybrid or fully online as well as face-to-face courses; (f) experience with school-university partnerships; and (g) experience with grant-writing and implementation.
