POSITION DETAILS

The Deputy Director of Financial Aid will report to the Director of Financial Aid. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Deputy Director will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the financial aid office with a particular focus on the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of student service.
  • Apply industry standard best practices to ensure compliance for all federal, state, and University funded aid programs.
  • Responsible for ensuring each member of the staff is trained appropriately to advise students in a holistic manner to maximize financial aid opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the enrollment data and communication team to create an automated communication plan strategy which educates the student body on financial aid, tracks students in jeopardy, and positively impacts retention.
  • Plan and execute financial aid programming for students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the Director of Financial Aid at various meetings across the College and University.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

 

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Higher education or related field
  • Exemplary communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of all financial aid best practices in federal, state, and merit scholarship-based aid.
  • Track record of strong supervisory experience and a commitment to the professional development of staff along with an ability to provide honest and constant professional feedback to staff while upholding standards of excellence.
  • Experience with Peoplesoft (or similar student information system), CRM technologies, and EAB Navigate.
  • Comfortable speaking to large groups of students and families in a presentation or group setting.
  • Familiarity with the most recent methods of data collection, research methodologies, and web-based technology as it relates to financial aid; and be able to adapt to changing environments, technology, policies, legislation, and the needs of the students.
  • Be available for occasional evenings and weekends.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

  • Plans, develops and implements financial aid policies and processes in accordance with Federal, State and University standards.
  • Manages financial aid activities and represents the office at on-campus and off-campus meetings and forums
  • Manages day-to day administrative and systems operations for optimal efficiency and customer service; manages special processes such as Return of Title IV Aid
  • Provides comprehensive financial counseling to parents and students
  • Implements all necessary processes to support financial aid application, awarding and delivery cycles
  • Oversees the coordination of financial aid activities with those of other College and University offices
  • Implements and maintains web based services
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience ($79,188 - $93,491).
