Job Summary

The Florida Small Business Development Center (FSBDC) at FIU, a partnership between the Florida SBDC Network and Florida International University, offers at no-cost a team of business consultants who work with entrepreneurs and business owners in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties to help them grow and succeed. FSBDC at FIU also organizes workshops, seminars, networking events and other events in the community to benefit entrepreneurs and business owners in the region. The Marketing and Training Coordinator is responsible overseeing marketing, training and outreach activities related to programs under the center.

• Work closely with the College of Business (COB) Office of Marketing and Communications, FIU External Relations, and the Florida SBDC Network Strategic Communications team to market and highlight FSBDC at FIU client success stories, center impacts, and community programs.
• Schedule, plan and execute community trainings and webinars, including relevant event close outs and reporting. Works with diverse communities that speak English and Spanish.
• Research, develop and write materials such as news releases, fact sheets, flyers, brochures, newsletters and presentations.
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts and partnerships for the dissemination of information regarding center services and programs.
• Review and respond to internal and external requests for information, data, and feedback related to center activities.
• Monitor and report on training event performance making recommendations on how to improve the quality of training programs, program attendance, and program attendee survey ratings.
• Support the streamlining of training/outreach strategies for the center and its community partners, identify commonalities, and develop a set of common protocols.
• Work with center consultants to collaborate on existing and new workshops that address the needs of the program and the community.
• Apply strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication, problem-solving, and listening skills.
• Use Salesforce and Blackthorne software to create, process, and record each training event file in accordance with required policies and procedures.
• Utilize email marketing and digital marketing platform such as Constant Contact to distribute any publications and/or press releases to media partners and stakeholders.
• Utilize media platforms, such as Canva and/or Adobe to create marketing materials and flyers that follows the networks branding policies and procedures.
• Leverage analytics tools, including Google Analytics, to analyze and optimize campaign performance.
• Network effectively with prospective clients, small businesses, and economic-development partners and stakeholders.
• Travel throughout Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys as necessary.
• Regularly work evenings attending meetings and offsite events.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Media/Public Relations, Communications or appropriate degree and three (3) years of experience in a related field.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in training event planning, training coordination, and curriculum development.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

• Ability to travel locally and nationally.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
• Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and at locations outside of the University
