Assistant Professor, Human Development & Family Studies Category: Faculty Job Description: The Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) program is housed in the Department of Human Ecology. The HDFS program enrolls approximately 100 students with a total of 625 students and 22 full-time faculty within the Department of Human Ecology and five within HDFS. Other majors in the department include Fashion & Textiles, Food Service and Restaurant Administration, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Human Development and Family Studies is an approved program for the Certified Family Life Educator credential through the National Council on Family Relations. The HDFS program uses life span and ecological perspectives to study human development, family dynamics and relationships. Our applied program emphasizes building professional helping skills related to interviewing, assessing, case management, family life education, public policy, and intervention and prevention programming in human service agencies. We are in the process of developing CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) microcredentials and have community partnering with local human service agencies around Direct Support Professionals (DSP) microcredentials.
