Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics for the 2024-2025 academic year. Applicants should hold an earned master's in Mathematics, Mathematics Sciences, Statistics, or a closely related field (with a minimum of 18 hours graduate-level course work in Mathematics) from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. The position begins August 2024.

The position serves general education and Math majors. It requires effective communication and interpersonal skills with undergraduate students and the university community. The successful candidate will teach primarily undergraduate Math courses in a 15 credit-hour per semester course load. Teaching duties may include on-campus, on-line, and/or regional campus responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Earned master's in Mathematics, Mathematics Sciences, Statistics, or a closely related field (with a minimum of 18 hours graduate-level course work in Mathematics) from an accredited institution at the time of appointment.

Job Duties:

Maintain a 15-hour per semester teaching load, teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students.
Utilize effective teaching methods, innovative teaching techniques, and teaching modalities, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures as a means to help meet the needs of EKU students.
Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop, and implement courses related to one’s curricular area.
Demonstrate the willingness and ability to work effectively with colleagues to support the mission of EKU, its academic units, and its campus community.
Demonstrate respect for and support EKU’s diverse campus community and student population.
