Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Department of Computer Science & Information Technology at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of AI in Data Science, for Academic Year 2024-2025.

Applicants should hold an earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered but must have a Ph.D. (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment. The position begins August 2024.

The position services the Artificial Intelligence in Data Science program. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses including, but not limited to, Data Visualization, Data Mining, Big Data, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence.

The successful candidate will teach on-campus and/or on-line undergraduate courses in a 4/4 teaching load, develop and maintain an active scholarly agenda, conduct academic advising, and participate in service to the department, university, and community. In addition, membership and participation in state, regional, national, or international professional organizations is recommended.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. ABD applicants may be considered but must have a Ph.D. (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment.

Job Duties:

Maintain a 4/4 teaching load, teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students
Utilize effective teaching methods, innovative teaching techniques, and teaching modalities, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures as a means to help meet the needs of EKU students
Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop, and implement courses related to one’s curricular area
Develop and maintain an active research agenda
Keep up to date with one’s field and curricular areas by reading and reviewing current scholarly or creative works and by attending conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and faculty development activities
Advise students, fulfill program, departmental, college, and university committee assignments
Demonstrate the willingness and ability to work effectively with colleagues to support the mission of EKU, its academic units, and its campus community
Demonstrate respect for and support EKU’s diverse campus community and student population
