Position Summary

The Curriculum and Outreach Educator reports to the Head Librarian of the CRC. In consultation with the Head Librarian, coordinates the outreach of the CRC to the campus and regional community; oversees the CRC web pages, social media presence for the CRC and the CRC LibGuides; provides instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels; provides reference and circulation functions during regularly scheduled shifts including some evenings and weekends; stays current with various state educational standards and helps the Head Librarian with curriculum mapping efforts for the College of EDHD. Serves on committees as assigned and assists with collection development.


Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities

  • In consultation with the Head Librarian, coordinates outreach for the CRC on campus and in the community, including virtual and face-to-face activities. Provides support and maintenance for the CRC web page; creates and maintains subject and general use LibGuides; maintains the social media presence of the CRC, including tracking relevant statistics related to the various media. Participates in exhibit and outreach activities with staff in other departmental units.
  • Participates in library instruction activities in the CRC and serves on the team that provides course-integrated instruction and one-on-one consultations for graduate, undergraduate students and faculty in the College of Education and Human Development. With approval from the Head Library, may be instructor of record for semester-long courses.
  • Participates in CRC reference and circulation desk duties and provides daily reference service, online and print-based, to BGSU students, staff, faculty, and the general public. Serves as unit manager of the CRC one evening per week, some weekends and, occasionally, in the absence of other staff members. Stays abreast of new PreK-12 collection resources, print and electronic to facilitate effective reference skills.
  • Maintains familiarity with Ohio State Learning Standards, Model Curricula, and Assessments for all PreK-12 core classes, special education, intervention and technology. Monitors current pedagogical trends in educational technology in order to recommend digital instructional materials for the collection. Develops expertise with classroom technology tools or materials adopted.
  • Participates in CRC collection development, including suggesting materials for purchase for the CRC to the Head Librarian and reviewing currently subscribed and new electronic resources, series, standing orders, and periodicals to recommend subscription, continuation, or cancelations as appropriate.
  • Serves on committees, teams or task forces in the department, library, on-campus and off-campus as appropriate. Maintains awareness of developments in the field of PreK-12 at the local and state levels.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as individually with administrators, faculty, staff and campus constituents.
  • Strong technology skillsInstructional design experience preferred.
  • Library experience preferred.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree required. Bachelor's or Master's degree must be in teacher education. Candidate must have teacher certification in any content area in some portion of the PreK-12 field.

The following experience is required:

1 to 2 years of teaching experience in the PreK-12 field.



Full-time, 10 month Administrative staff position available. Administrative Grade Level 354. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Full benefit package available.
