Director of Career and Professional Development

This position, which is part of the Law School’s Office of Career Services, reports to the Associate Dean for Career Services. The Director’s primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, general career and professional development coaching, including student preparation for legal employment; identifying information about employment opportunities in the private and public sectors for students and alumni; preparation of resource materials; participation in job fairs; organizing career, professional development and job-search related programs for students; developing and maintaining close working relationships with public and private sector employers; and attending events on Long Island and in New York City. Some evening hours are a part of this position. Events are occasionally scheduled on weekends.

Qualifications: A JD degree is required; prior legal coaching or career marketing experience is strongly preferred. Excellent organizational, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and as a member of a larger student services team are required. Advanced computing skills, including use of social media, strongly preferred; presentation skills necessary.
