Hofstra University's division on Information Technology has an opening for an Instructional Designer. The Instructional Design team is a department of 5 people organized to share support. They provide instructional design services throughout the university.

We are seeking an instructional designer with a strong background in online course development. This position involves collaborative work with faculty, staff, and other technical teams across the Hofstra campus in order to develop and deliver strong online and face-face courses. The successful candidate will have an in-depth understanding of instructional issues related to teaching and learning in hybrid and fully
online courses; will have demonstrated experience deploying a wide range of hardware
and software tools to develop instructional materials for online and face-to-face courses. The candidate will be able to partner closely with faculty to guide them through the content design and development process.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Work with faculty in developing a working relationship/partnership
• Consult with faculty to articulate components of a good course design
• Actively participate in long-range strategic planning
• Field the support in the department’s Faculty Support Center
• Other responsibilities as needed

Bachelor’s degree is required. Graduate degree in instructional design or alike is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and creative problem solving skills and will be able to utilize their communication and interpersonal skills to work directly with coworkers, customers, and different levels of management Teaching experience is desirable. Hofstra uses Blackboard for its course management system; familiarity with Blackboard is a plus. Candidate with coding skills is a plus.

Instructional design team members must have a high degree of excellence in their field
and strong communication and leadership skills. Incumbent should be creative, flexible,
and hold a strong desire to transform the undergraduate and graduate education experience through the integration of appropriate technologies and pedagogies.
