Position Summary
The University at Buffalo School of Public Health and Health Professions is recruiting an Open Rank (Assistant/Associate/Full) Professor in Health Services and Health Policy Research. This new position is state-funded (hard money), 12-month, and tenure track. We are open to candidates with expertise in all areas of public health, especially health policy, health economics, healthcare quality, health services, patient-centered care, resource utilization, and health outcomes research.

The successful candidate will be a part of the Division of Health Services Policy and Practice ( HSPP ) in the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health ( EEH ) and join a University-wide multidisciplinary team of health outcomes researchers. The primary focus of the position will be on research, but the candidate will also make contributions to the teaching and service missions of the School of Public Health and Health Professions. The successful candidate will develop an independent, funded research program, contribute to graduate student teaching and to university and professional service.

The Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health ( EEH ) prides itself in its multidisciplinary faculty, with faculty research focused on chronic diseases (e.g., cancer, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, periodontal disease, diabetes, eye disease), environmental health, global health, infectious disease, women's health, genetics, nutrition, health care delivery, quality of care, health policy, health economics, and health disparities.

About SPHHP
SPHHP offers programs at every degree level and is the home to departments of biostatistics, community health and health behavior, epidemiology and environmental health, exercise and nutrition sciences, and rehabilitation science. It is one of only a few schools across the country that includes both health-related professions and public health. It has a diverse student body which it is actively engaged in supporting. Minimum Qualifications
  • Candidates must possess a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DDS , PharmD, etc.) in health services research, a public health discipline, or a related field.
  • Research experience in the area of health services research, health policy, health economics or a closely related field is required.
  • Candidates must have a track record of research support and peer reviewed publications commensurate with the faculty rank of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Record of high-quality peer-reviewed scientific publications consistent with rank
  • Record of/potential for extramural research funding consistent with rank
  • Excellence in teaching or evidence of potential in teaching
  • Experience in successful mentoring or evidence of potential to mentor graduate students
  • Record of/potential for excellence in research/scholarship and service
