Position Summary
The Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) in the College of Education and Human Development invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology/Exercise Science position.

HPER is a resourceful department that provides services, educational experiences, programs, and activities for students, staff, faculty, and the community. The department embraces its fundamental obligation to realize the goals of the College of Education and Human Development and the mission of Jackson State University in “Challenging Minds and Changing Lives.” HPER is committed to providing programs and services that promote and support the health, physical fitness, social, and wellness needs of JSU students.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Education
Must have a Doctoral degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science or closely related field completed by the date of appointment.
Minimum Required Experience
Must have a record of research publications and grantsmanship proportionate with experience.

None
Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
Experience in clinical fields.
Demonstrated contribution in research in therapeutic rehabilitation and mental health.
Record of involvement in internally and/or externally funded grants.
Research interest aligned with federal health research priorities.
Record of professional service.
Certification appropriate to discipline (ACSM-EP, ACSM-CEP, NSCA-CSCS, NSCA-CPT, PT, OTRa.).
Innovative teaching on-campus and online practices in higher education.
Skills and Abilities
Must be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Sport Science and Clinical Rehabilitation type programs (e.g., Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Mental Aspects of Rehabilitation, Exercise Testing and Prescription, Sport Nutrition).
Must have expert written and verbal communication and interpersonal skill.
Must be able to demonstrate collegiality and collaboration.
Must provide evidence of potential to meet with local, regional and national stakeholders to develop and enhance programs and promote teaching excellence.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Upholding the instructional mission of the department.
Undergraduate and graduate teaching.
Advising and mentoring students from unique backgrounds.
Providing innovative curriculum design and program development as well as build upon the national reputation of the department in terms of research, grants and scholarly publications.
