Tenure-track Director of Fashion Merchandising & Management at LIU Brooklyn

The Department of Business at the School of Business Administration of Long Island University Brooklyn Campus (LIU Brooklyn) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Director’s position in the Fashion Merchandising & Management beginning September 2024. This position requires a teaching load of eighteen credits per year.

Additional job responsibilities include managing the degree program including: applying for external funding, job placement and internships, service such as student advising, recruiting, and mentoring as well as participation in faculty-led college and university committees. The candidate must hold at a minimum a MFA or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years industry experience. Further consideration will be given to candidates holding or close to completing a Ph.D. or other terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Our search targets candidates who have the capability to effectively teach and publish in the following areas: The Business of Fashion Merchandising, Math for Merchandising, Buying for the Fashion Industry, Fashion Trend Forecasting, Global Produce Development and Strategic Planning, Fundamentals of Textiles and Visual Merchandising and Display. Additional consideration will be given to those applicants with a background in Luxury Fashion and Computer Aided Design.

Experience related to any of these topics in industry or government is a plus. A successful candidate should also show evidence (for Associate Professor) or potential (for Assistant Professor) of performing high-impact scholarly activities in the aforementioned areas by publishing in peerreviewed journals, applying for external grants and conducting industry-sponsored projects.

The Department of Business is composed of faculty in accounting, data analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, management, marketing and fashion merchandising and management. The School of Business at LIU Brooklyn prepares students for professional careers in business and government.
