Essential Functions
The School of Nursing seeks a nursing educator with a Doctorate in Nursing (PhD in Nursing or DNP-Doctor of Nursing Practice) to serve as Director of a Masters of Science Nursing (MSN) program which is seeking SACSCOC approval and CCNE accreditation. The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced professional with education, practice and leadership experience. This candidate will be able to teach in the BSN and in the RN to BSN (online) programs. This is an in-person position and faculty may be assigned to teach either in person or using remote technologies in undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the department (Nursing). Applicants without teaching experience have access to a faculty mentoring program, and a range of developmental activities for faculty, supported by the Heimmermann Center for Engaged Teaching.

• Teach courses based on departmental needs and expertise; supervise clinical practicum.
• Candidates will carry out a research program, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to collaborative and interdisciplinary efforts across campus. Faculty are encouraged to apply for external funding.
• Participate in curricular development.
• Provide academic advising to students.
• Mentor students to prepare them for professional practice, graduate studies, and research.
• Provide support to students in need of academic improvement.
• Serve the University, college, and department.
• Actively participate in the department's expansion
• Performing additional assigned tasks to enhance the quality of the program.

Required Qualifications
• Terminal degree at the doctoral level in nursing, which meets accreditation standards; current RN license with eligibility for licensure or licensure in Texas; Demonstrated leadership skills related to coordination of teaching activities.
• Effective verbal/written communication skills and proficiency in the English language
• Awareness of current issues/trends in nursing and higher education
• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
• Awareness of the unique needs of an MSN Degree student
• Based on the desire and qualifications of the applicant, the position may be hired as executive staff or as tenure track faculty at the Associate, or Professor rank

Preferred Qualifications
• Registered Nurse (or eligible to apply for licensure) in Texas
• Bilingual/Bicultural
• Ability to provide mentorship through teaching, scholarship, curriculum development, administrative experience, and/or other academic and professional activities in social work
• College-level teaching experience
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Ability to engage with diverse groups and show sensitivity to variations across age, gender, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, language, cultural, national origin, and prior training and educational experience.
