Business Systems Analyst I - Supply Chain

The Business System Analyst I will serve as a liaison between the business leaders and IT development teams to develop solutions for business needs. This role will also act as a coach and mentor for to lower level BSAs, helping to define templates, mature tools and techniques, and create repeatable processes for eliciting and capturing requirements. This role may act as the Lead BSA in workshops with the business and/or technical team.

Overall responsibility includes collaborating with the business to gather, document and communicate business requirements to the IT teams to development applications or make enhancements to existing systems to provide IT based solutions. This will be accomplished by becoming an expert in the business workflows and use of applications as well as existing system functionality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the business to identify, document, prioritize and communicate business needs.
Plan, elicit, capture, analyze and validate business, functional and technical requirements.
Become deeply immersed and knowledgeable about core business functions, processes and workflows associated with assigned business areas and projects.
Making recommendations for solutions, or improvements, to business processes that can be accomplished through new technology or alternative uses of existing technology
Recognize the relationships, dependencies and impacts of neighboring business functions.
Understand core systems, applications and technical platforms utilized.
Document and analyze current business processes and underlying systems/applications.
Lead product/project discovery, solution definition, requirement elicitation sessions and walkthroughs.
For agile delivery projects, define product/project backlogs consisting of Epics, Features, User Stories and Tasks.
Produce timely and high quality work product requirements including specifications, process flows, mock-ups and wireframes.
Researching business requirements and documenting the relationships between the components of the application system through workflow charts and diagrams
Translating business requirements into application requirements for the IT development teams
Coordinate communication and information flow between business and technology teams.
Support testing and protect traceability of the business requirements against the functionality of proposed solutions to ensure it achieves the business’s needs
Use statistical methods to identify areas for operational improvement and make suggestions for streamlining processes.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

Bachelor's degree
8+ years of experience in a Business Analyst or related role
10+ years of overall IT experience with significant involvement in software development.
Extensive experience planning, facilitating, eliciting, documenting and managing business, functional and technical requirements.
Expertise in modeling/mapping business processes – both as-is and to-be.
Significant experience with both traditional Waterfall SDLC and Agile/Lean methodologies.
Experienced in test planning, test case development and execution.
Ability to effectively interface with all levels of business and IT.
Exceptional writing, communication, teamwork and influencing skills that foster a collaborative and continuous improvement environment.
Excellent facilitation and organizational skills.
Proven critical/analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
High energy, adaptive team player with good work ethics.
Experience with Microsoft Visio or other BPM tools.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year college or university preferred and 10+ years’ of IT work experience, 8 years in a Business Analyst role; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 5 years of supply chain management experience preferred but not required.

Reasoning Ability: Conducts data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements. Will also establishes and maintain liaison relationship with business partners and Information Service & technology (IS&T) in order to provide effective technical solutions.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and volumes. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Decision Making: Works with business partners within one business entity to align technology solutions with business strategies; also will support one low to moderately complex business processes.

Planning: Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/ or sequence of performance of own work; may also assist in the planning of work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Tools & Technology: Agile Tools (ServiceNow, TFS, JIRA, VersionOne, CA), Microsoft Excel, PPT, Word, Visio or other BPM related tools
