Summary of Position
The Mechanical Engineering Program in Rayen School of Engineering at YSU is seeking a faculty member who can teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate level in mechanical engineering. All areas of Mechanical Engineering will be considered, with an emphasis placed on the solid mechanics specialties. The ideal candidate will be able to develop externally funded research projects and work effectively with local and regional companies including the National Additive Manufacturing Innovative Institute, America Makes, located in Youngstown. YSU is student-centered and, as such, this person must be an effective classroom teacher, a good communicator, and a person who can work effectively with students to achieve their full potential as mechanical engineers. Duties include developing and teaching courses from the sophomore to graduate level in the mechanical engineering program, actively pursuing external funding, student advising, and participation in college, university, and community service.

Position Information
Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

Qualifications and Competencies
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: None

Minimum Qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to teach topics in the dynamics systems and design areas. Competence with computational tools and experience with laboratory development. Strong commitment to teaching excellence and hands-on laboratory-based instruction. Dedication to continued professional development and scholarship. Evidence of interest in working with students.
