Associate Compliance Officer and Director of International Affairs Compliance Department Responsibilities The Director is responsible for FSU’s foreign researcher screening programs in compliance with s. 1010.35, F.S., and the foreign travel program pursuant to s. 1010.36, F.S. Conducts screenings and coordinates the office’s activities in these areas as a team lead. In support of the university’s academic mission, the Director provides compliance oversight and support for FSU’s programs for visiting scholars and assists with vetting non-student visa applications, in collaboration with the Office of Research Compliance Programs and Office of General Counsel. The Director also provides strategic compliance oversight and support for all international academic programs and activities, including study abroad programs and operation of the University’s overseas study centers, and serves as the main compliance liaison for the Office of International Programs. In addition to serving as a specialist in the areas listed above, the Director is expected to serve as a higher education compliance generalist, providing support as needed in all areas of higher education compliance. This includes coordinating or assisting in the development and implementation of training programs, serving as a communications point-person for stakeholders in a complex compliance environment, and other projects as assigned. Qualifications Have, or applied for, U.S. Government Security Clearance at the Secret level within two months of appointment [Need citizenship, permanent resident alien, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual status to get a security clearance]. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a compliance or legal role at an institution of higher education. Experience in sponsored research agreement review, grant application writing or review, or negotiation of research contracts. Experience with databases and electronic systems required for regulatory implementation, such as Visual ComplianceTM. Experience with Huron’s COI and/or Research modules. Knowledge and experience working with federal security policies and procedures. Experience implementing policies related to export control regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR, OFAC). Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional designation. Ability to work with diverse groups/populations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High degree of professionalism and ability to deal discreetly with sensitive information. Unimpeachable personal and professional integrity. Strong listening, writing, and presentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the use of web-based applications. | |
